Cultural Appropriation

Cultural appropriation is the adoption of some specific elements of one culture by a different cultural group. It describes acculturation or assimilation, but can imply a negative view towards acculturation from a minority culture by a dominant culture

The term “cultural appropriation” is sometimes used to describe the act of borrowing aspects of another culture. For many people, the concept of cultural appropriation is a very charged issue, and passionate debates about cultural appropriation can be found scattered across the Internet. Some people feel that the term “cultural appropriation” is rather pejorative, making it difficult to discuss the very real issues associated with borrowing material from other cultures in a measured, balanced way.

Blood is thicker than water

The last 5 days have been horrible. Normally I'm not a blogger about "me" but I need this. I need to get my thoughts straight and kind of let out all of this sadness. One my close friends has cancer, been dealing with it for a VERY long time... lots of things are changing and I wish I could be there. He's one of the people that helped build my career and has really helped keep me sane through some hard times.

If I had $700 right now I'd be hoping on a plane to go across country to be there. I'm a firm believer that when shit like this is going on you need to have people that love you near.

“The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb”

The last week everything around me is "this is the bad news and there's NOTHING you can do to fix it" and it seems like if I had more money that I could at least be able to distract myself or others .... It always comes down to money, doesn't it?
