No Trades Without Purpose

Today I was contacted by a photographer who wanted to do a trade session with me. Trade sessions for freelance models and photographers are fairly common to create art. I typically have no problem doing the shoot as long as there is a purpose. Magazine subscriptions, diverxity sets... and so on. I'm stingy with them when the photographer is vague about purpose and tends to validate himself repeatedly. You contacted me, expecting me to hand out my time and creativity  freely. Then make it a point that they were not "in the market" to hire a model. Well, you better have a grandeur design than I wanted to collaborate.

I'm so fucking annoyed with photographers that want TF* sessions but don't understand how that leaves the model vulnerable to being "stiffed".

Photographer & model show up for the shoot. Spend hours creating images, the average photographer does not give the model the images at the end of the shoot. He states that he will be in touch "in a few weeks".

The photographer has no risk. He got what he put his time in for when he took the shot. His cartridge or card are full of what his time is worth and the model is trusting that she'll get something in return.

Many photographers equate this to models not giving them credit when posting the images. You still got the images. Photographers don't credit models just as often as models don't credit photographers.

I refuse to do TF* sessions for this basic reason.  Trade sessions go to photographers I trust.
